Ok, not really preparing, I just got my new car -same brand+model, just
new version- and I actually drove it around a bit.
Driving does hurt though cause I have to keep my -left- leg bent just
beyond the confort angle and moving it to the clutch pedal is too slow
for safety (half a second is way to long in an emergency).
But at least I have the car and I can drive if I have to.
Things are going better, though the improvements seem to slow down a
bit.
I do notice that most of the cuts on my leggs are
healing without scar-tissue forming.
Anyway I walked to the newspaper store today, about 500m to and 500m
back. It took me about half an hour but hey I got there and back
alone, on foot and without crutches.
(OK, I laid down to
rest half an hour as well ...)
I have been away for over three weeks. But not on a holiday.
Unless you call Hospital a good holiday resort ...

On the second (2006-11-02, about half an hour after posting) I was on
the road to work as usual. About half way there I got into a car
accident. A serious one.
I am driving normally on a straight 2-by-2 road, overtaking a mid sized
lorry while approaching traffic light. It's a straight road and I have
just seen the light go green so there is no need to slow down, I am
going about 100Km/h (60+ MPH). Just as I reach the lights a heavy lorry
(40+ tones) coming from the opposite lanes decides to turn left without
looking. I have enough time to swerve a very small bit but not enough
to brake, not even enough to curse, before we make contact.
The next thing I remember is laying in bed and being rushed trough hospital corridors. I also remember making a funny remark getting a doctor to smile while he is stitching up a deep cut in my head.
From the first two days I remember lots of fragments. A nurse later
told me they thought my brain got damaged cause whenever I was awake I
smiled and told bad jokes, some in English.
Bha, that was
just proof I was OK. ^_^
On the third day I was moved from intensive-care to a normal room.
Two and a half weeks later I get home again. I still cannot move about
as I want cause my left knee is completely screwed up. And I cannot use
normal crutches cause my broken left elbow isn't working at 100%. All
the other cuts and cracks are no hindrance though so I suppose I'll be
fit for work in a couple of weeks.
Maybe even before
the year is out. That's what I think, not what the doctors think, they
have given me 100% disability till 31st of
December with a possible extension till February.

Yep, I am alive.
Yes, I am still alive. I think.
Well, nobody has come to pick up my corpse yet so I assume I am not
dead enough. But yet dead enough to stay away from computers and
internets at home.
Thing is for the last month or two I have been working over 60 hours a
week on average. And that's work time, not including commutes or lunch
breaks (which I get about once a week these days). Doing ten hours of
computer work a day every day is starting to show, the frame rate of my
eyes starts dropping below 60fps.
Not conductive for being bussy on the internet.
A first post on a new blog is always a curious thing.
It's like breaking open a can of foreighn food that you cannot read the label from. All you know is that it's made to be eaten.
I don't need another posting place at all. Heck I don't have time to keep up my current places. So why do I come here? I don't really know. Just to stay in contact with people I suppose. To remain hidden in the crowd.
